Inception of the Father’s Love

In the movie Inception, the most pivotal scene is when, during a dream, a business man sees his father on his deathbed and hears his father trying to say he was disappointed. The son says “I know dad, I know that you were disappointed I couldn’t be you.” The father stops him and says “No, no, no… I was disappointed that you tried.”

At that point, the idea was conceived that continuing in his father’s billion dollar empire was not ultimately what his father wanted. He only wanted his son to be himself and know his father loved him no matter what.

Your heavenly Father made you in His image and you are perfect in His sight. You are just like Him because He made you that way. Not because of something you did, because there is NOTHING you can do to be like Him. You are already His son and He loves you regardless. He wants you to be you!

Maybe this idea could be “incepted” in all of us. Daddy loves us just the way we are.

Who Told You That You Were Naked?

“Who told you that you were naked?” was God’s response to Adam after eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam became aware of his nakedness and was ashamed. God never saw Adam as naked or clothed. He saw Adam as his son, perfect in His sight!

And you, who once were alienated and enemies IN YOUR MIND by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled. Colossians 1:21

God loves you just the way you are! You are His child!

Servanthood or Sonship

The prodigal son felt unworthy and chose to serve the Father.

The older son felt worthy because he served the Father.

What was important to the Father was for His children to know that He loved them unconditionally and that they enjoy everything He has given them.

Your sonship iinfinitely
more valuable than your service.

Adam Was Up To Know Good

Adam was so obsessed with knowing what was good, healthy, beautiful, and wise that it led to the fall of mankind. Adam walked innocently with God in the garden. His nakedness was never a thought until he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We cannot know good without simultaneously learning evil. Adam desired to be like God forgetting that he was already made in God’s image and likeness. When Adam ate from the tree he immediately KNEW he was naked, he covered HIMSELF, hid HIMSELF from God’s presence, and upon hearing God’s voice was afraid and ashamed of his own nakedness. Adam’s nakedness didn’t change God’s mind about Adam, Adam changed His mind about God. He now saw God as a judge of good and evil rather than a loving Father. God never even considered Adam’s sin and asked him “who told you that you were naked?” in other words “who told that you sinned?” It wasn’t God who saw Adam as naked, he was always naked! It was Adam who saw Adam as naked. Adam didn’t lose His sonship, he lost his mind! God never intended for us to relate to Him in terms of good and evil or right and wrong. When we do we judge ourselves and as a result see God as judging us. We were designed to walk innocently with God whether we are clothed or not. Don’t eat from the wrong tree. Pursue life and truth and love and the fruit of it will be all good.
